Developers Trim the Fat: Splitgate: Arena Reloaded Brings Back the Best Elements of Both Games

Following the troubled launch of Splitgate 2, developer 1047 Games has announced Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. The title is scheduled to release on December 17 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and will be free-to-play. The project aims to combine the strongest elements from both entries.

The headline change is the removal of factions and special abilities. Players will be able to fully customize loadouts and compete on an even playing field without artificial limits. Included modes are Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Gun Game and Shotty Snipers, along with six reworked arenas and five brand-new maps.

The game adds three new primary weapons, one new special weapon, a revamped ranked system, and a progression framework that awards prizes after every match.

Art director Josh Watson commented:

Splitgate has always been a tribute to the arena shooters we grew up with. We rebuilt the game from the ground up, distilled the best parts of Splitgate 1 and 2, removed the elements that didn’t work, and refined the features that did.

A short documentary on the development of Reloaded will premiere on December 9, 2025.
