Darksiders 3’s post-launch DLC contains an area mode and Serpent Holes

Some time after Gunfire’s apocalyptic hack n’ slasher Darksiders 3 launches subsequent month, whip-cracking heroine Fury will get to poke round some Serpent Holes. Nothing to do with Brendan’s horny lizard-folk, however slightly one in all two deliberate bits of DLC for the game included within the Deluxe Edition’s value.

The first DLC – The Crucible – has Fury return to the survival area from Darksiders 2, whereas Keepers Of The Void re-purposes the Serpent Holes from the unique Darksiders – previously a fast-travel community, they’re now filled with puzzles, monsters and loot. Below, the most recent trailer.

While I admire the addition of an area mode in any game with fascinating fight, I’m shocked that it’s not a day-one launch function. Darksiders 3’s fight appears to be like a little bit nearer to the chunky, heavyweight Zelda-inspired fights of the unique, slightly than Darksiders 2’s extra agile combo-heavy motion. It’ll be fascinating to see if it’s deep sufficient to final a full arena-centric DLC. A return to the Crucible implies that we’ll hopefully be bumping into returning bonus boss Wicked Okay once more, a really dapper British lich with a magic high hat and cane – he’s overdue for a whipping.

The second DLC bit, Keepers Of The Void sounds a bit extra fascinating. At the behest of merchant-demon Vulgrim, Fury will get to poke round his transdimensional Serpent Holes (that may by no means not sound filthy), which appear to be a bit infested. As reward to your monster-blatting and puzzle-solving, gamers can come away with some new weaponry, and the Abyssal Armour set. While steadily self-serious, I can be a little bit dissatisfied if the game doesn’t no less than acknowledge the potential for double entendres.

Publisher THQ Nordic are calling this simply the “first” DLC, though with no season cross and these two items included within the Deluxe version of the game, I’m curious to see what their long-term plans (if any) are for Darksiders 3. Still, inevitable cliffhanger ending apart, I’m hoping that the shortage of sprawling season cross bulletins implies that (side-quests within the DLC apart), Darksiders Three can be a properly self-contained journey.

While there’s no fastened date on the DLC but, Darksiders Three correct is due on November 27th by way of SteamGOG and Humble and can price £45/60€/$60 for the common version, or £60/70€/$70 for the Deluxe model with soundtrack and (later) DLC.
