The rationale behind the move is clear: the development team requires a level of computational performance that Epic Games’ current architecture simply cannot sustain for a role-playing game of this immense scale.

A recently released showcase highlights the progress made on their proprietary engine. This veteran team, which includes creators who helped shape the foundational entries of The Elder Scrolls series, is prioritizing seamless load times and overall system optimization.

Channeling the spirit of Daggerfall, the project promises a vast, open-ended sandbox. The developers have emphasized the engine’s high-efficiency rendering and its ability to simulate the complex behaviors of thousands of NPCs within a dynamically reactive world.

A full release is still several years away. Currently, the studio is channeling its resources into perfecting its bespoke technology after moving away from Unreal Engine 5.
