The developers continue to steadily refine the project.
In September, the team behind Ara: History Untold marked the 4X strategy’s anniversary with a major 2.0 “Revolutions” update. They expanded core systems and added new unit types.
Some highlights and changes:
- Units for every nation — each civilization now fields distinctive historical troops, from Mongol mounted archers to Japanese samurai.
- Leader redesign — every leader has been reimagined and given unique mechanics, personality traits, and abilities, boosting replayability and enabling more personality-driven diplomacy.
- Agitator unit — introduced with the “Revolutions” technology in the late Renaissance. Agitators can be sent to neighboring foreign regions to foment uprisings and, using their influence, bring those territories into your nation.
- New production priority and quota system.
- Enhanced AI.
- Cities now include a new quality-of-life category: “Culture”. It generates a new currency, “Influence,” which can be spent on cultural bonuses and territorial expansion, creating meaningful alternatives to military conquest.
- Overhauled map generation.
- Refined interface and improved overall performance.
