“It has those pitch-perfect video game textures,” Roan gushed. “It’s essentially medieval synth brilliance. I’m a total gamer, and I’m obsessed with synths and that experimental ’80s aesthetic.” She even singled out the track “Sever the Blight” as a personal favorite from the game’s expansive library.

The official RuneScape social media account quickly caught wind of the praise, thanking Roan for the shout-out and even offering her and Hemlocke Springs the original MIDI files for their own use. With the mutual respect established, fans are now clamoring for a low-poly Chappell Roan NPC to appear in Gielinor.

This gamer-adjacent revelation isn’t entirely out of character for Roan. She famously campaigned for The Sims to let her record a Simlish rendition of “Pink Pony Club” and was recently immortalized as a playable icon within the ever-expanding Fortnite universe. For any player around her age, nostalgic memories of mining and questing in RuneScape remain a core cultural touchstone.

In other community news, a massive player-led campaign recently pressured developer Jagex to phase out microtransactions by 2026—a move the studio is hailing as the dawn of a fresh chapter for the long-running MMO.
