The battle against The Witness takes place in a mechanically dense arena where the boss is far more proactive than your typical raid encounter. While most bosses simply loiter in the background, occasionally firing off an energy blast, The Witness is a lethal, active hunter. For a solo player, the workload increases exponentially; you are essentially performing the tasks of six people simultaneously while dodging one-shot attacks that demand perfect spatial awareness.
Even if a player masters the mechanics—which often requires favorable RNG—the raw damage requirement is the ultimate gatekeeper. To succeed, a single Guardian must output roughly six times the standard individual damage to finish the fight before the “Enrage” timer triggers an automatic team wipe. For the vast majority of the player base, it is an exhausting, soul-crushing experience—one that arguably feels just as unpleasant as the forfeit that awaits those who fail.
In related news, Bungie recently addressed a comical technical error where a Marathon pre-order glitch caused Destiny 2 to spontaneously install on Steam, prompting fans to joke that the developers were taking “forced engagement” to a whole new level.
