BTS‘ “Butter” adds another achievement to its already-impressive chart run: The hit ranked atop Billboard‘s newly launched 24-hour live Hot Trending Songs chart, powered by Twitter, on Friday afternoon (Oct. 29).
“Butter,” released via HYBE/BigHit Music/Columbia Records, spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at the summit on the chart dated June 5. It also launched atop the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. rankings that week.
Billboard‘s Hot Trending Songs charts, powered by Twitter, track global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days. A weekly version of the chart, covering activity from Friday to Thursday each week, also posts alongside Billboard‘s other weekly charts on Billboard.com each Tuesday. The Hot Trending Songs charts highlight buzz around new releases, awards shows, festival moments, music nostalgia and more and are unique in that they track what songs people are talking about, not necessarily what they’re listening to.
“Butter” crowned the 24-hour Hot Trending Songs ranking following the Thursday announcement that it’s nominated for favorite pop song at the American Music Awards (airing Nov. 21 on ABC). It’s up against Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA; Dua Lipa’s “Levitating”; Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”; and The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears” remix.
Among other tracks making strong showings on the 24-hour Hot Trending Songs chart, SEVENTEEN’s “Rock With You” has maintained steady traction in the top five, following its release Oct. 22.
Thai singer-songwriter and actor Mew Suppasit also claimed a top five placement with “Spaceman,” released Oct. 17. He had previously appeared on Billboard‘s charts in early August, when he debuted five tracks on World Digital Song Sales.
Plus, Harry Styles entered the 24-hour Hot Trending Songs top five with “Falling,” from his 2019 LP Fine Line. Giving it new life, BTS’ Jungkook released a solo cover on YouTube (Oct. 28).
