Blue Prince Developer Pledges Not to Reveal All of the Game’s Secrets

Contemporary games rarely guard true mysteries for long: the internet and the player community reveal secrets far sooner than many developers expect. That makes titles where creators decline to say whether every secret has been uncovered especially intriguing. Blue Prince, from studio Dogubomb, is one such example.

When asked in an interview whether any puzzles in the game remained unsolved, developer Tonda Ros replied that they do exist and added that “there will probably always be mysteries in the game. To keep the intrigue, I will likely never fully confirm whether everything has been solved.”

Ros went on to note that some games include explicit “completion indicators”—for instance, the Animal Well website asks, “Is everything found?”—but Blue Prince will not provide that kind of direct hint.

All I’ll say is that the puzzles remain. It’s not that they can always be definitively solved, but answers can be found — often through intuition.

The developer believes the urge to uncover everything is perpetual, and that preserving unanswered questions makes the game more captivating and encourages players to return, even weeks or months later.
