Bloober Team is developing Silent Hill 1 with the original music composer

Horror enthusiasts have significant reason to celebrate as legendary composer Akira Yamaoka confirms his involvement in the remake of the original Silent Hill. His haunting and evocative scores have long served as the definitive sonic foundation of the entire franchise.

During a recent engagement with fans, the composer dispelled lingering rumors regarding his work on other spin-offs. He clarified that he is not attached to Silent Hill: Townfall, but is instead focusing his full creative energy on the reimagining of the series’ debut title. For the community, revisiting the fog-shrouded nightmare of Harry Mason without Yamaoka’s signature industrial soundscapes would be virtually unthinkable.

The development is being spearheaded by the Polish studio Bloober Team. Following the critical success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, the studio has solidified its position as Konami’s premier partner in revitalizing the iconic brand. This latest project is being meticulously crafted using the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5.

Currently in full production, the developers have noted that the first installment offers a fundamentally different experience compared to its psychological successor. Centered on themes of occultism, religious fanaticism, and surrealist terror, the 1999 original was renowned for its oppressive, fever-dream atmosphere—an essence the team is determined to preserve in this modern rendition.
