“What I can share is this: fans of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo, and Eternal Darkness will find themselves in very familiar territory. That said, Project M incorporates a daring twist—a conceptual innovation that has never been explored in a horror game before. This is a creative vision that could only be realized on Nintendo’s specific hardware.”
One of the most effective uses of hardware-specific mechanics in the genre remains ZombiU, which utilized the Wii U’s second screen to create unbearable tension. It is highly likely that Babieno is hinting at a similar breakthrough for the rumored Switch successor, perhaps involving unique input methods or display features that distinguish it from the raw power of PlayStation or Xbox. Fortunately, it seems we won’t have to wait much longer to see exactly what Bloober Team has in store.
Babieno has previously expressed his ambition to revitalize the “golden era” of GameCube horror, specifically citing the psychological depth and atmosphere of titles like Eternal Darkness and the original Resident Evil 4.
