The developers of Battlefield 6 have announced that aim assist for players using controllers will be scaled back. Although the word “nerf” suggests a downgrade, the change is intended to produce a more natural and comfortable aiming experience. Many users reported that the current assist “gets in the way” and that they often have to “fight the aim.”
“We will reduce target stickiness and remove the rotational inertia that was previously present. A smooth slowdown when aiming will be introduced, eliminating sudden jerks.”
The existing 25% recoil reduction will remain unchanged, but the team plans to further refine other parts of the system to improve shot precision.
Many players note that easing the “stickiness” actually improves the experience, especially when multiple enemies are on-screen and the crosshair can be pulled toward an unintended target.
No exact release date for the update has been given yet; according to Nickerson, development is progressing rapidly and the aim assist improvements will arrive soon.
