Escalating the conflict with new threats on the frontlines. Season 2 launches February 17. pic.twitter.com/fGMegJJuTjJanuary 13, 2026
On the ground, melee combat is becoming significantly more fluid and lethal. Combat knives are now faster, and both blades and sledgehammers have been optimized to reduce input buffering. Timing for melee strikes has also been refined to ensure split-second encounters feel fairer. Furthermore, the transition from sprinting to attacking is now more seamless; melee actions will only halt your momentum at the exact moment the strike connects, rather than interrupting your movement the instant the button is pressed.
Quality-of-life improvements are also included, such as the ability for players to customize reticle colors on various weapon and gadget optics. While the patch notes focus heavily on minor technical fixes across nearly every game system, the cumulative effect should result in a much more stable and polished gameplay experience.
The Redsec faction also receives attention, most notably with a fix for the persistent bug that caused armor bars to disappear. This update is scheduled to go live tomorrow, January 20, leading up to the official Season 2 launch on February 17.
Battlefield 6 is currently facing backlash as players draw unfavorable comparisons to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with many accusing the latest promotional artwork of being “hollow” and AI-generated.
