“First and foremost, I want to honor the New York Game Awards,” Pritchard stated, praising the organization for “15 years of championing the games industry and elevating the voices, narratives, and aspirations of countless creators.” She noted that the awards serve as a bridge for those who believe “every ambition is valid and that everyone should have the opportunity to engage in significant, creative work within gaming and storytelling.”

Pritchard also highlighted the New York Videogame Critics Circle’s “Playing With Purpose” initiative, noting that it “empowers creators, developers, writers, and visionaries from all backgrounds to join this vibrant community and share their unique perspectives.”

Concluding her address, Pritchard offered a heartfelt message to both veteran and emerging developers. “Much like a legendary game character, you are on a grand adventure where every choice and step is significant. You will undoubtedly encounter challenging bosses, but you will also find steadfast allies and great rewards for your tenacity. Keep believing in your vision, keep creating, and remember that you truly have a place in this industry.”

Following his 15-year career at Nintendo, former president Reggie Fils-Aimé humorously noted that he didn’t receive a complimentary Switch 2, opting to experience the new hardware launch “as a fan” instead.
