In our review (linked above) we awarded the shooter four stars, describing it as “more refined than revolutionary.” Battlefield 6 delivers a carefully layered multiplayer that favors polish over bold experimentation, focusing on refining the franchise’s proven strengths rather than reinventing them. It won’t astonish series veterans, but the game excels when those elements align—though the single-player portion can feel comparatively thin within the overall package.

First up: if you want to get up to speed on Battlefield 6, reading the reviews is a sensible first step—unless you’re determined to remain completely spoiler-free.

Metacritic currently ranks Battlefield 6 as the highest-rated entry in the series in some time. While the campaign doesn’t make a strong impression for many, the multiplayer has emerged as the clear highlight for numerous players and critics alike.

Given that most people spend the majority of their time in multiplayer, that should reassure rather than disappoint many fans.

And we’re off—Battlefield 6 has officially launched. It’s strange to look back at the troubled debut of Battlefield 2042, but the franchise keeps moving forward.
