The legendary Oscar-winning filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar has unveiled a curated selection of his favorite films released since the turn of the millennium.

His list of standout titles includes:

  • Ten (dir. Abbas Kiarostami)

  • Call Me by Your Name (dir. Luca Guadagnino)

  • Toni Erdmann (dir. Maren Ade)

  • Phantom Thread (dir. Paul Thomas Anderson)

  • Amour (dir. Michael Haneke)

  • The Swamp (dir. Lucrecia Martel)

  • Sentimental Value (dir. Joachim Trier)

  • Drive My Car (dir. Ryusuke Hamaguchi)

  • Anatomy of a Fall (dir. Justine Triet)

  • Fire Will Come (dir. Oliver Laxe)

Almodóvar’s next venture, a drama titled Bitter Christmas, is currently slated for a theatrical release in Spain in March 2026.

The Spanish auteur is the latest high-profile director to share his preferences; previously, Quentin Tarantino also revealed his own favorite movies of the current century.
