How does Battlefield 6 perform on the PlayStation 5? Digital Foundry answered that question with a technical breakdown of DICE’s shooter. According to Oliver MacKenzie, the game showcases impressive technical polish and strong performance, though it lacks ray-tracing support.
The review highlights that the Frostbite engine returns in excellent shape — brimming with explosions, particle effects and dynamic debris. The destruction system remains a hallmark of the series. The Battlefield 6 campaign stands out for its scale, smooth animation and richly detailed locations, although not every mission succeeds in shedding linear design.
In the balanced mode the game targets 60 frames per second with a dynamic resolution near 1440p, using AMD FSR to preserve clarity. There’s also a performance option aimed at 120Hz that reduces resolution to 1080p but averages around 90–95 fps, which is particularly beneficial for owners of VRR-capable monitors.
The main highlight is the multiplayer: expansive maps, advanced destruction physics and a steady frame rate combine to deliver the smoothest, most immersive Battlefield feel to date. The lone shortcoming is the absence of ray tracing, which could have further enhanced the visuals. Otherwise, Battlefield 6 on PS5 is one of the most technically accomplished shooters of its generation.
