A popular game nearly received a multiplayer mode.
Warner Bros. Games Montreal added a heroes-versus-villains multiplayer for Batman: Arkham Origins. Yet the franchise was also home to a different multiplayer experiment.
At one stage, Batman: Arkham City was slated to include a game mode called “Batman Gangland”.
The YouTube channel The Atomsmith recently showcased footage of this cancelled Batman Gangland multiplayer after enthusiasts managed to boot one of the developer builds.
Players would have taken on the roles of gang members or vigilantes. As a villain the experience resembled a third-person shooter; playing as Robin or Batman felt like the campaign’s stealth segments, except the opponents were other human players.
