Bandai Namco Cannot Guarantee Stable 30 FPS in Tales of Berseria, Confusing Fans With New Statement

Bandai Namco has revealed the technical benchmarks for the upcoming JRPG remaster, but the vague wording regarding its performance has sparked a wave of questions.

With the Tales of Berseria remaster nearing its Nintendo Switch debut, Bandai Namco has released preliminary data on resolution and frame rates. According to the official announcement, the title will target 30 frames per second on the base Switch hardware, though the developers noted that the FPS “may fluctuate temporarily depending on the environmental complexity and specific gameplay scenarios.”

This specific caveat has drawn immediate scrutiny from the fan community. Players are left wondering if the phrasing hints at potential frame rate boosts in less demanding areas or, conversely, frequent drops below the 30 FPS mark. These anxieties are heightened by the memory of the Tales of Xillia Remastered release, where performance stutters were frequently observed during resource-intensive sequences despite a similar 30 FPS cap.

Bandai Namco also confirmed the resolution targets for the Switch version: a native 1920×1080 when docked and 1280×720 for handheld sessions. Meanwhile, owners of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can expect a significantly smoother experience, with the game running at 60 FPS and supporting resolutions up to 4K.

Additionally, the publisher mentioned that compatibility testing is underway for the Nintendo Switch Lite and the heavily anticipated “Nintendo Switch 2,” although they are not currently prepared to share concrete technical details for these platforms.

Tales of Berseria Remastered is set to arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 27, 2026.
