“Karamazov Streamers”: New Character Cast Revealed for Needy Streamer Overload Anime Adaptation

The anime adaptation of the visual novel centered on the life of a volatile streamer will feature a standalone narrative and a fresh cast of characters.

Fresh details have emerged regarding the upcoming anime adaptation of the visual novel Needy Streamer Overload (also recognized as Needy Girl Overdose). The production team unveiled a new promotional visual and announced the debut of “The Karamazovs,” an original streamer group created exclusively for the series. This supports previous statements that the adaptation will explore an independent storyline within the game’s universe rather than serving as a direct retelling of the source material. Individual teaser trailers were released for each new member: Purple Lollipop, Michica Gokubara, and Nechika-sama.

Additionally, it was revealed that a limited “theatrical version” titled NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE -OVERTURE will premiere in Japanese cinemas this March, just one month prior to the show’s April television debut. The creators have not yet specified whether this will be a compilation of the initial episodes or unique, standalone content.

Yostar Pictures, the studio noted for its work on Arknights and Blue Archive, is spearheading the animation. Masaoki Nakajima is directing the project; his previous credits include the Needy Girl Overdose short film and contributions to Blue Archive and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. The musical score is being crafted by Aiobahn +81, Sasuke Haraguchi, and DÉ DÉ MOUSE, reuniting the original game’s sound team.

Despite the controversy involving the series creator and writer Nyalra being sidelined from promotional activities, his work remains the foundation of the first season’s script. In late 2024, Nyalra stated that Why So Serious Inc., the rights holder, had removed him from the management team and prohibited his public participation in marketing the anime. He confirmed that he had finalized all thirteen scripts for the season prior to this conflict but is currently consulting with legal counsel regarding intellectual property rights and fair compensation.

In current official materials, Nyalra is credited solely as the author of the original concept and scenario, with no further role in production. The writer is currently developing a new venture alongside former members of the original game’s development team.

A specific air date for the April premiere has not yet been announced.
