“We felt some remorse over Sir Lora because he was born out of publisher pressure,” Vincke added. “At this point, we just want him gone. However, seeing that fans enjoy him makes me happy; there were talented people who put a lot of effort into bringing him to life.”

During development for the latest PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch versions, Vincke saw an opportunity to finally delete the squirrel. However, his Quality Assurance team delivered the news that it was “too late” due to unexpected structural bugs triggered by the character’s removal.

“We couldn’t quite figure out why, but Sir Lora simply refused to die. We wasted several days debugging just to find a way to remove him,” Vincke explained. The character would vanish from one scene only to reappear in another, and with limited resources for the port, the team eventually gave up. “He’s still there because he simply wouldn’t go away.”

The enhanced version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available now, offering plenty of time to explore the world with your immortal squirrel companion before the next Divinity project takes shape.
