Arc Raiders Hits 12 Million Sales: Embark Gifting Free Golden Hammer to All Players

“The raider community has been the heartbeat of this project since its inception. Their enthusiasm, feedback, and distinct playstyles guide our long-term vision for this world,” executive producer Aleksander Grøndal noted in a recent statement.

GamesRadar+ spoke with Virgil Watkins, lead designer on Arc Raiders, regarding this commercial success. When asked if the milestone brought more relief or added pressure, Watkins admitted it was “likely a blend of both.”

“It’s incredibly motivating to see players continue to engage with the world and bring their friends into the fold,” Watkins explained. “The clear appetite for more content provides us with a fantastic incentive to keep innovating for the community.”

With the financial security provided by these sales, Watkins mentioned that Embark is focusing on expanding and optimizing their development teams. This growth allows the studio to analyze post-launch data to determine what mechanics are resonating with players and where they should invest in future enhancements.

Watkins recalled the intensity of the launch period, noting that the game’s explosive popularity surprised even the development team. Despite high numbers during beta testing, the scale of the release was unprecedented.

“The way the game took off really caught us off guard,” he remarked, highlighting the game’s remarkable longevity and consistently high player counts on Steam. “We obviously believed in what we were building, but having this degree of global validation is a truly humbling experience for the whole team.”
