After 2 years, a hacker cracked Denuvo in Sonic Colors: Ultimate — this will help them break DRM in other games

A segment of the gaming community remains staunchly opposed to purchasing titles integrated with the notorious Denuvo DRM technology.

Recently, the developer known as voices38 announced a major breakthrough. The hacker successfully bypassed the security measures of Sonic Colors: Ultimate, a title that has been on the market for several years.

According to the hacker, this particular bypass represents a “pivotal milestone in deciphering the core intricacies required to compromise contemporary iterations of Denuvo.”

The method employed by voices38 effectively tricks the Denuvo system into validating the game copy as a legitimate, licensed version.

While escalating hardware costs and the scarcity of RAM could potentially hinder voices38’s progress—since he constructs various PC configurations for rigorous testing—the hacker remains confident that he can navigate these logistical challenges.
