Pahdo Labs was far from an amateur operation; its roster featured veterans from industry titans such as Ubisoft, Riot Games, and Capcom. This collective expertise helped the studio raise an impressive $17 million in venture capital. However, Zou clarified that these funds were quickly absorbed by market-rate salaries and high production costs for art and content. While over half of the investment was funneled into Starlight Re:Volver, a significant portion was also spent on experimental precursors like Halcyon Zero.
The transition from Halcyon Zero to the anime-inspired adventure of Starlight was intended to be a turning point for the studio. In a final note to the community, Zou confirmed that Starlight Re:Volver will remain accessible as a standalone single-player experience for the time being. Additionally, a playable demo for Edge of Divinity has been released on Steam as a testament to the team’s final efforts. “This is goodbye for now,” Zou concluded.
