What was likely intended as a throwaway comment to build momentum for two of the year’s most significant releases was quickly seized upon as a potential teaser. The reaction from The Elder Scrolls 6 hopefuls was exactly as intense as you’d imagine. “Don’t. Don’t give me hope,” wrote one fan. “Please, just end our suffering,” pleaded another. The agents had been activated.
The conversation was equally heated over on Reddit. “That’s painful to read. It could be a genuine hint, or it could be completely unrelated to TES,” one user remarked, while another speculated that this might suggest a new trailer for the RPG is coming later this year.
While we hate to be the bearer of bad news, it is highly unlikely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will make an appearance at this month’s Developer Direct. In fact, it might be safer to avoid the “Silksong” rabbit hole entirely and assume the game won’t manifest until Todd Howard himself drops down your chimney with a retail copy in hand.
In other news, Todd Howard has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 will “most definitely” feature more trees than Skyrim, which has us immediately adding new Valenwood theories to our investigation boards.
