  • When asked for specifics on the Kettle, Watkins explained that Embark is implementing a more restrictive fire rate cap. Previously, the threshold was high enough that skilled players (or those using software assists) could achieve near-instantaneous kills that felt unintended and broken.

“We’ve seen footage of players hitting that cap manually through sheer speed,” Watkins noted. “To bring it back in line, we’ve simply lowered the maximum possible fire rate.”

Regarding Trigger Nades, which have occasionally turned PvP encounters into lethal games of dodgeball, Watkins emphasized that the goal isn’t to ruin the weapon but to make it more tactical. The upcoming changes focus on damage falloff and timing.

“The damage falloff curve is being adjusted significantly,” he elaborated. “You’ll need much higher precision to deal maximum damage. We’re also introducing a triggering delay, so players can no longer detonate them the moment they leave their hand. They will now require a bit more lead time to be effective.”

These adjustments suggest a thoughtful approach to early meta concerns—nerfing the “cheese” potential while maintaining the identity of the gear. A Kettle that remains viable but isn’t abusable, and Trigger Nades that demand accuracy rather than spam, should improve the overall health of the extraction shooter’s combat.

“Beyond this update, we are looking at the entire rarity spectrum,” Watkins added. “We’re evaluating the cost of crafting and maintaining these items against their actual performance in the field. Shuffling those values is part of our long-term strategy.”
