SNK: a new CEO has been appointed, a former SEGA and Koei Tecmo

It’s time for a change on the side of SNK, which has just announced a change of management, with the return of a Japanese at the head of the company. Indeed, from August 1, 2021, ZhiHui GE will give way to a certain Kenji Matsubara, a former strongman at SEGA who will therefore take on the role of Chairman and CEO. In the press release that SNK made public on its official website, it is specified that Kenji Matsubara’s know-how extends to Japan and internationally. It must be said that the man previously worked at Hitachi, then Oracle in the 80s to early 2000 before finally joining the video game in 2001 with Koei. He will leave Koei-Tecmo two years after the merger to work on mobile at Zynga Japan, which will earn him a good place at SEGA Networks in 2014. His arrival at SNK is obviously intended to continue to grow the company. which wishes to consolidate its strengths on its strongest licenses. We are of course awaiting the arrival in early 2022 of KOF XV, but also the return of Metal Slug, both at Tencent for a mobile episode and the Tactics version at DotEmu. We will also not forget to specify that Saudi Arabia still holds 33% of SNK’s capital since November 2020, and the country fully intends to go further via the MiSK Foundation.
