The National Republican Senatorial Committee, a bunch lead by two sitting Senators that’s “the only national organization solely devoted to strengthening the Republican Senate Majority and electing Republicans to the United States Senate,” has launched a new radio ad taking purpose at Senator Jon Tester of Montana for accepting what they name “dirty money” from Pearl Jam. The band held a live performance in Missoula earlier this month to fundraise for Tester and promoted it with a poster featuring an eagle feasting on the bones of Donald Trump, in front of a burning White House. The poster was co-designed by Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament.

“A vote for Tester is a vote to put liberal Democrats in control, where they’ll work to impeach President Trump,” the advert says. “But for the radical far-left, impeachment isn’t enough. Celebrities have talked about killing the president or blowing up the White House. Now, a rock band comes to Montana, throws a concert to support Tester – and promotes it using a vulgar, despicable poster featuring President Trump’s dead corpse on the White House lawn. Yet, Tester himself remained silent for days. Even worse? Tester’s campaign used the concert to raise campaign cash, charging up to $500 for VIP tickets. How much dirty money did Tester raise? And if he won’t he do the right thing and give it back, doesn’t that tell us all we need to know about the real Jon Tester?”

Chris Meagher, a spokesman for Senator Tester’s marketing campaign, told the Associated Press last week, “We by no means noticed the poster earlier than the present and we do not prefer it. And we do not condone violence of any form.”

Earlier this week, the NRSC launched an announcement describing Ben Folds and Jason Isbell as “unhinged”, earlier than their profit live performance for Democratic Tennessee Senate candidate Phil Bredesen. Folds and Isbell have been have been lambasted for supporting Bernie Sanders and criticizing Trump voters, respectively.

Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for Senator Tester and Pearl Jam for additional remark.
