British electronic artist Loraine James has announced her debut album under the ambient moniker Whatever the Weather. The self-titled LP is due out April 8 via Ghostly International. She’s previewing the record with lead single “17°C” and a music video, directed by Michael Reisinger, that features a woman dancing outside at night. Check it out below.

Whatever the Weather spans 10 tracks in total. Each song title takes its name from a different temperature and aims to replicate the mood it prompts. James cites Deftones’ Chino Moreno and American Football’s Mike Kinsella as inspirations while pitching her voice for the project.

Last year, James released her excellent album Reflection. See where it landed on Pitchfork’s list “The Best Electronic Music of 2021.”
