Cassandra Jenkins is the latest artist to share her contribution to Covers of Covers, a compilation celebrating the 20th anniversary of the magazine Under the Radar. Following EMA’s rendition of Modest Mouse’s song “Trailer Trash,” Cassandra Jenkins has shared her version of the Animal Collective and Vashti Bunyan song “It’s You” from the 2005 Prospect Hummer EP. Listen to Jenkins’ version below.

“Covers are a great way to experiment with sounds, palettes, and people I want to work with,” Jenkins said in a statement. “Harpist Rebecca El-Saleh and I did some email recording during quarantine and this was the first time we got to play in a room together, with Zubin Hensler engineering. I had been listening to a lot of Curtis Mayfield at the time and loved some of the harp usage in his recording, and felt like the harp was one of the few acoustic instruments that could capture something similar to the original recording. Michael Coleman added some piano, and I used field recordings from the house where I’ve been living for a good part of this year.”

In addition to EMA and Cassandra Jenkins, the compilation also features Cults, Peter Bjorn and John, Water From Your Eyes, Black Belt Eagle Scout, Alex Lahey, and others. Sales from the compilation will go to support Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Animal Collective’s new album Time Skiffs is out February 4.
