inZOI Migrates to Unreal Engine 5.6: How to Join the Beta Test

KRAFTON has shared an important development update regarding its highly anticipated life simulation game, inZOI. The development team has officially announced the launch of a public beta branch, titled the “Next Engine Preview.” The primary focus of this major technical milestone is the transition of the game’s core architecture from Unreal Engine 5.4 to the more advanced Unreal Engine 5.6.

According to the developers, this specific build is dedicated to resolving accumulated technical bugs and refining overall system performance and framerate stability. The transition to the newer engine version is expected to improve the handling of complex rendering technologies like Nanite and Lumen, allowing for highly detailed environments and dynamic lighting without sacrificing performance on mid-range hardware.

How to Join the Beta Test

To ensure a thorough evaluation of the new engine’s stability in a live gameplay environment, KRAFTON is calling on the community for assistance. Any player who owns the base game on Steam can participate. The developers have assured fans that current save files will remain fully compatible, meaning players can jump into the test without losing their progress.

  • Locate inZOI in your Steam Library.
  • Right-click the game title and select Properties.
  • Navigate to the “Betas” tab.
  • Choose “next_engine” from the Beta Participation dropdown menu.
  • Wait for the update to download automatically.

Players should note that mod support will be temporarily restricted within the beta branch. This limitation is necessary to ensure the integrity of crash reports and performance data during the engine testing phase.

The testing period will run until the official engine upgrade is deemed stable enough for a full release. If the beta results are positive, the development team intends to incorporate these fundamental enhancements into the upcoming March update, alongside new gameplay features and social interaction mechanics.
