Amazon Prime Video is building significant momentum in its quest to adapt iconic gaming franchises for the small screen. The most high-profile undertaking on its current slate is the live-action God of War series. Following a wave of casting news that set the internet ablaze, the streaming giant has finally unveiled the first official glimpse of Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson as the legendary duo, Kratos and Atreus.

The image debuted on social media accompanied by a stirring caption: “Father and Son. Behold your first look at Kratos and Atreus in the God of War series now in production. Their journey to the highest peak begins.”
The production intends to adapt the narrative arc of the 2018 God of War title, a celebrated reimagining that relocated the Ghost of Sparta to the realm of Norse mythology. This iteration focuses on a more somber, weathered Kratos navigating the complexities of fatherhood. Interestingly, the television adaptation is already pulling forward pivotal figures from the sequel, Ragnarök, suggesting a massive scope for the show right out of the gate.
