Insider Brad Lynch has reported that Valve is preparing to unveil a new Steam Frame VR headset, an updated Steam Controller, and Half-Life 3 later this week.
A source shared on Discord that the announcement is expected on Wednesday, with pre-orders possibly opening within one to two weeks.
The new Steam Frame, codenamed Deckard, is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, feature a JDI display at 2160×2160 and 120Hz, and include SLAM tracking, eye-tracking, and a novel VR interaction layer called “Frames.” The controllers reportedly use CapSense to detect the distance of hands from the grips; they resemble Valve Index controllers but do not offer full finger-tracking.
Half-Life 3 is being touted as the device’s potential “killer app.” Leaks suggest the game is playable and currently undergoing optimization, and the reveal might arrive via a post on X.
Mass production of the headset reportedly began in October 2025, with a target output of up to 600,000 units per year and an estimated price around $1,200. The “Frames” system creates UI elements like floating windows, enabling new ways to interact with apps, in a fashion comparable to the Apple Vision Pro.
