LG is preparing to showcase its next-generation UltraGear evo gaming monitor lineup at the upcoming CES 2026 exhibition.
In January 2026, the annual Consumer Electronics Show will serve as the global stage for LG to debut its latest gaming displays, which feature a sophisticated suite of integrated AI capabilities.
The centerpiece of this reveal is the UltraGear evo series, billed as the world’s first gaming monitor range to incorporate 5K AI Upscaling. This proprietary technology enhances image clarity directly within the display hardware, operating independently of the user’s graphics card. According to LG, built-in algorithms analyze visual data in real-time to upscale resolution, minimize digital noise, and fine-tune color profiles via “AI Scene Optimization.” The experience is further augmented by “AI Sound,” designed to provide a more immersive audio environment.
The initial rollout will feature three primary models:
- 39-inch 39GX950B (OLED): Offers 5K2K resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 1500R curvature. It supports a 165Hz refresh rate at native resolution, which can be pushed to 330Hz when operating in WFHD (2560×1080) mode.
- 27-inch 27GM950B (MiniLED): A high-fidelity 5K panel equipped with 2,304 local dimming zones and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification. It reaches 165Hz at 5K and up to 330Hz at QHD (2K) resolution.
- 52-inch 52G930B (5K2K): Featuring a 12:9 aspect ratio and a deep 1000R curve, this massive display supports refresh rates up to 240Hz and holds a VESA DisplayHDR 600 rating.
LG has noted a key distinction: the advanced AI features, including the hardware-level upscaling, will be exclusive to the 27-inch and 39-inch models.
While the technical premise is promising, LG has yet to provide deep technical documentation, leaving several questions unanswered. Most notably, it remains to be seen how this on-device hardware upscaling will interact or conflict with existing software solutions like NVIDIA’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR. Further technical specifications and performance benchmarks are expected to be unveiled during the official presentation at CES 2026.
