Following a turbulent week marked by a string of game cancellations and project delays, Ubisoft has confirmed it is exploring the possibility of cutting roughly 200 roles at its Paris headquarters through a proposed "voluntary mutual termination" framework.

In a statement provided to GamesRadar+, the publisher clarified that the move is currently only a proposal. "As part of the initiatives announced last week to refine our operating model and accelerate cost-reduction efforts, Ubisoft International has entered discussions regarding a potential Rupture Conventionnelle Collective (RCC)," the company stated. This collective voluntary exit agreement could potentially impact up to 200 staff members at the French headquarters.

"At this stage, this remains a preliminary proposal. No final decisions will be reached until a collective agreement is negotiated with employee representatives and validated by the relevant French authorities," the statement continued. Importantly, this initiative applies strictly to Ubisoft International employees on French contracts and will not affect other global divisions or French subsidiaries.

Ubisoft emphasizes that the proposed plan would be entirely optional for staff. This strategy mirrors a "voluntary career transition program" implemented last October at Ubisoft Stockholm and Massive Entertainment—the studio behind *Star Wars Outlaws*. At the time, the company described it as a way for eligible team members to move toward their next career step "on their own terms."

This latest development follows a significant corporate "reset" announced by the company less than a week ago. That overhaul resulted in the cancellation of six titles—including the long-awaited *Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time* remake—and the postponement of seven others, which reportedly includes the rumored *Assassin's Creed: Black Flag* remake.

The company previously detailed plans to centralize its development efforts under five "Creative Houses," each specializing in specific genres and core franchises.

"These measures represent a decisive turning point for Ubisoft, reflecting our commitment to tackling challenges directly to ensure the Group’s long-term sustainability," CEO Yves Guillemot stated. He added that the company is moving toward a more "decentralized creative organization," aiming for faster decision-making processes and high-tier cross-functional services to support each Creative House.
