Top 10 PC Games of 2017

Here are the top ten PC games of 2017 to add to your backlog. Of course, nobody is forcing you to play them. It’s just, these are the games that many people enjoyed, and they want others to enjoy them too. There may be some that aren’t to your liking, and that’s okay.

So here they are, the top PC games of 2017.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

William ‘BJ’ Blazkowicz’s adventures in an alternate Nazi America are far from over. Despite being almost fatally injured and spending about five months in a coma, he’s back and ready to take on hordes of enemies, as well as huge fire-breathing robot dogs. Whether he’s defeating them through dual-wielding shotguns or mini-gunning them to death, you’re sure to have the time of your life.

Divinity: Original Sin II

An RPG where gods and immortals clash, the player chooses the fate of the world. The rift had broken, and now Voidwoken roams the land, bringing chaos to all. You decide whether they’ll be successful in bringing their leader to rule Rivellion or purge them from it. There is an option to cooperate with up to three friends but can be played alone.

Prey

Fight off paranoia-inducing aliens called Typhon in an abandoned space station in Prey. Over time, player character Morgan may acquire the abilities of these aliens, which can be used in defeating or outsmarting the Typhon. Players may opt for stealth instead of just shooting everything in sight, and there are several endings as well.

What Remains of Edith Finch

Explore the history of the Finch family as they try to break what is thought to be a curse on the family. Discover the stories of each family member, from their life to death. Mostly focused on plot than anything else, those who crave for action won’t find it in this touching game.

The Evil Within 2

Set three years after the events of the first game, follow Sebastian Castellanos into another nightmarish world, this time to save his daughter. The game still focuses on survival, as Sebastian still must scrounge up supplies to help him defeat or avoid the creatures lurking about. Not for the faint of heart but will do for anyone who enjoys scaring themselves.

NieR: Automata

The action RPG that isn’t a direct sequel to Nier. While it is part of that series, playing the other games isn’t necessary to enjoy this one. It boasts an ending for every letter in the alphabet, (though the first five are the only serious ones). Throughout the game, play as androids 2B and 9S as they try to protect their world from destruction.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

The latest in the series of Resident Evil games, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard keeps up the legacy despite being the first to use the first-person perspective. This time, play as Ethan Winters as he tries to find his missing, presumed dead, wife. Due to being less athletically inclined and lack of training in any self-defense, Ethan is realistically less competent at fighting. Players are advised only to drive away or sneak by enemies.

Torment: Tides of Numenera

Explore and discover Earth in the far-flung future, where civilization has reverted to a medieval state. The technology of the past civilizations has been thought of as magic and are called the ‘numenera.’ Play as the ‘Last Castoff’ trying to figure out the answer to the question of how one life matters. As you journey through the game’s world, gain allies, as well as enemies before ‘the Sorrow,’ find you.

Total War: WARHAMMER II

Like its predecessors, Total War: WARHAMMER II features mostly the same gameplay. The game spans the five continents of the Warhammer Fantasy fictional universe, as each race that lived in each continent want to use the Great Vortex for their purposes. Choose a side to support, and fight for the right to use or stabilize the vortex.

Cuphead

Duck, jump and dodge your way through this retro cartoon-styled, bullet-dodging shooter platformer. Cuphead (and Mugman if played with a friend) must collect the contracts of those who’ve made a deal with the Devil, to save their own life. The result is this game, with run and gun sections to get to the boss battles. Prepare for many, many deaths when playing.

Honorable Mention: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

The undisputed #1 in peak daily players in Steam. Despite its somewhat simple concept, buggy gameplay, and complaints about various other things, PUBG remains one of the most played games on Steam. Consider that it also got an Xbox port that considerably boosted its player base. Updates seem to make it better and better recently, too.
