Todd Howard Confirms Fallout 5 is Being Developed Simultaneously with The Elder Scrolls VI

Todd Howard, the head of Bethesda Game Studios, has sparked fresh excitement for Fallout 5 by revealing that the franchise is currently receiving more development attention than ever before.

In a recent interview, Howard shared:

Regarding Fallout 76: our commitment to the series has never wavered. We have maintained a dedicated, full-scale team for a long time. In fact, the Fallout franchise is where we are currently investing the most effort.
While a large portion of the studio is presently focused on The Elder Scrolls VI, we are also developing other Fallout projects that haven’t been announced yet. I understand fans are anxious, asking for any scrap of news. We are working hard, and the time will come to share more information.

Bethesda has previously confirmed that Fallout 5 will be their primary focus following the completion of The Elder Scrolls VI. Although early development is underway, a release is unlikely before 2027. Howard suggested that the official reveal of Fallout 5 might follow the strategy used for Fallout 4, occurring just months before the game actually launches.

Studio Director Angela Browder added that the experience gained from titles like Fallout 76 and Starfield has significantly strengthened the team:

We have developed a much better grasp of multiplayer architecture, how to listen to our community, and how to evolve our skill sets. This expertise elevates the standard for every project that follows.

With the second season of the Fallout TV series currently in production and a third season already greenlit, Howard noted that the narrative of Fallout 5 will take the show’s canonical events into consideration.
