Sony has begun clawing back digital copies of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun from PlayStation Store users who obtained the game for free due to a pricing anomaly, nearly two months after the initial incident.
Impacted players have reported receiving official correspondence from PlayStation Support confirming a “refund,” despite no actual funds having been exchanged for the title.
The pricing glitch first came to light in mid-October, when it was discovered that Shadow Tactics could be claimed at no cost through the PlayStation Store. Industry insider Wario64 was among the first to flag the oversight on October 17, 2025, stating that the game was “free on PSN after a few steps.”
Wario64 later corroborated that Sony is actively revoking access for those who exploited the loophole. This align with widespread community feedback from players who have noticed the game vanishing from their libraries immediately following the refund notifications.
Shadow Tactics is a highly-regarded real-time stealth strategy game set against the backdrop of 17th-century Edo-period Japan.
