TNT to release New Year version of The Master and Margarita

The Russian television network TNT is set to debut a festive reimagining of Mikhail Bulgakov’s iconic novel, *The Master and Margarita*. The project was officially announced by Tina Kandelaki, Vice President of the Gazprom-Media holding company.

Kandelaki emphasized that this production is not merely a remake of previous Soviet-era films, but rather a fresh cinematic interpretation of the literary masterpiece. In a unique narrative shift, the plot will be transposed to the 1990s. The film is expected to pay homage to the “wild nineties” by incorporating stylistic nods to legendary Russian crime dramas and series, including *Dead Man’s Bluff*, *Bimmer*, *Brother*, and *The Boy’s Word*.

According to the creative team, the film will be framed as a comedy and will feature recognizable cultural figures from that era to authentically recreate the decade’s distinct atmosphere.
