Timothée Chalamet’s “Marty Supreme” Sets US Box Office Record

The sports-centric comedy “Marty Supreme,” starring Timothée Chalamet, made a splash this week during its limited theatrical rollout in the U.S. The project grossed an impressive $875,000 from just six select cinemas across New York and Los Angeles.

This translates to a staggering $145,000 per-screen average, marking the highest such figure recorded this year. The last time a limited release saw comparable record-breaking momentum was in 2016 with the musical “La La Land,” which pulled in $855,000 from five venues.

Directed by Josh Safdie (renowned for “Uncut Gems”), the film chronicles the life of table tennis legend Marty Reisman, portrayed by Chalamet. While partially fictionalized, the narrative is deeply rooted in the biography of the real-life ping-pong champion. The ensemble cast also features Gwyneth Paltrow and Tyler, the Creator, among others.

Critics have lauded the film, which currently boasts a formidable 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “Marty Supreme” is scheduled to premiere in Russian theaters on January 15.
