Melbourne’s indie-rock trailblazers, The Temper Trap, have made a triumphant return with “Lucky Dimes,” their first entirely new single in nearly a decade.
Issued on Thursday, August 14, the track marks a bold evolution for the quartet, propelled by commanding guitar riffs and a pulsating rhythmic drive.
Accompanied by a cinematic video directed by local auteur Joey Clough, “Lucky Dimes” was produced in collaboration with Grammy-nominated Styalz Fuego, whose credits include Charli XCX and Troye Sivan.
“It’s reassuring to know that, nine years on, we still have a story to tell,” says frontman Dougy Mandagi. “Creating this record has been a joy, and we’re eager to share it—not to revisit old triumphs, but to begin a new chapter.”

Formed in Melbourne in 2005, The Temper Trap signed with Liberation Music the following year. Their debut single, “Sweet Disposition” (2008), earned underground acclaim and reached wider audiences after featuring in Marc Webb’s film 500 Days of Summer (2009).
