Obsidian Entertainment has outlined its post-launch roadmap for The Outer Worlds 2, detailing support plans that extend through 2026. The studio confirmed it is currently developing two paid expansions alongside a suite of “ongoing refinements” designed to enhance the player experience.
These strategic updates were shared by Project Lead Brandon Adler during Microsoft’s annual year-end studio briefing. Adler emphasized the team’s commitment to nurturing the sci-fi RPG with significant content drops long after its initial debut.
“I’m thrilled to continue evolving The Outer Worlds 2 alongside this team. We have a pair of DLCs currently in the pipeline, and we are actively discussing the sequence of rolling updates we want to deliver to our community throughout the coming year. Our ideas range from brand-new gameplay features to the specific quality-of-life improvements our players have requested. We are at a pivotal stage of development and will share more specifics as our roadmap becomes more concrete.”
Obsidian had previously teased two narrative-driven expansions ahead of the game’s October launch. Fans who secured early access via the Premium Edition will be granted both DLCs once they have been finalized and polished. While development is well underway, official release windows for these expansions have not yet been disclosed.
In addition to the major story content, the developers are prioritizing the implementation of community-driven features and technical optimizations.
