The Elder Scrolls 6 world reportedly larger than Skyrim — settlements without loading screens? Not all Bethesda fans buy the rumors
Fans are hunting for information about TES 6 across a variety of sources.
Bethesda has been slow to provide updates about The Elder Scrolls 6. From time to time various rumors and supposed insider reports appear online about what the developers might be working on.
For example, TES enthusiasts recently debated “insider” claims posted on 4chan (a forum notorious for unreliable posts).
A post claims that the protagonist of TES 6 is “a prisoner” — implied to be a pirate — held on a small prison island near the city of Sentinel. According to the leak, he awakens during an uprising and escapes the island by posing as an envoy.
- The game world is said to be 1.7 times larger than Skyrim, using muted, darker tones similar to Skyrim to reflect the harsh character of Hammerfell and convey its local culture.
- Fast travel from any point on the map will reportedly be removed; instead, fast travel will be handled via caravans, boats, and signposts.
- A fortress-construction system will be introduced.
- Towns and settlements will be open for exploration, as will some interior locations. Nevertheless, very large structures such as palaces, fortresses, guild halls, and inns will still be locked behind loading screens.
However, many fans remain skeptical. For instance, user xAVATAR-AANGx pointed out an issue that he believes invalidates the entire “insider” account:
You can stop reading at the phrase “implied to be a pirate” — assigning fixed characteristics to the protagonist that are not chosen by the player, beyond being “a prisoner” or “the chosen one,” runs counter to Bethesda’s design approach for The Elder Scrolls.
