Surviving Mars patched, now accommodates fewer idiots

There are too many idiots on Mars however that’s about to alter. Colony-building sim Surviving Mars, which pleased our Alec well enough when it launched final month, has acquired its first major patch. The replace notes are a deal with – not fairly Crusader Kings, The Sims or Dwarf Fortress high quality, however there’s some strong stuff in there.

“Colonists will no longer try to walk kilometers on foot to resettle resulting in them dying from lack of oxygen”. Like the headline says: fewer idiots.

There are a lot of high quality of life adjustments, together with an elevated zoom out distance, mass drone reassignment and optimisations for elements of the simulation. All bundled collectively, they need to make for a tidier sport, with fewer clicks wanted to get issues carried out. The fool quota isn’t simply within the tweaks to colonist behaviour, it’s a selected change: “Lowered the chance for idiot flaw to appear in the colony and applicant pool”.

Smashing.

You can learn the full changelist over at the Paradox forums and the main adjustments are proper right here:

Science Institute renamed to Hawking Institute in tribute to Stephen Hawking

Added Birth Control Policy in domes. You can now set births to allowed or forbidden (Ctrl + LMB units contraception coverage in all domes)

Increased max zoom out distance

Optimized the best way colonists decide workplaces. Colonists ought to now decide the most effective office for his or her specialization accurately and far sooner

Added “Reassign All” button to drones which reassigns all drones from this commander or orphaned drones within the space

Colonists will not attempt to stroll kilometers on foot to resettle leading to them dying from lack of oxygen

Rover Command AI tech now removes the batteries of all rovers

Added a keybinding (default: i) that hides/reveals useful resource & anomaly icons on the map

Rovers usually tend to successfully use tunnels

Rovers pathfinding improved

Added free digital camera possibility in Photo Mode

I haven’t performed the sport since launch day as a result of I’ve been busy with much more necessary issues than Mars-moulding. All of those sound like excellent issues although – by no means underestimate the worth of pathfinding and UI adjustments in this type of sport – and I stay up for having the ability to forbid births once I lastly discover a while to play.
