RTX 5060 Ti 16GB launch at risk due to rising memory prices

Reports from Board Channels suggest that NVIDIA may suspend the launch of the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, either temporarily or indefinitely, due to the surging costs of memory components.

A sharp increase in production costs has forced NVIDIA to pivot its mid-range product strategy.

Producing the 16GB variant is increasingly expensive because it necessitates eight GDDR7 memory modules. As a result, the standard 8GB RTX 5060 Ti remains the more cost-effective alternative, requiring only four modules to function.

Gamers looking for more substantial memory buffers will likely have to opt for the RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti, which are expected to feature 12GB and 16GB of VRAM, respectively. This realignment also helps NVIDIA avoid market overlap and price-to-performance conflicts between the 5060 Ti 16GB and the base 5070.

The Blackwell-based RTX 50 series will continue to go head-to-head with AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, both of which are equipped with 16GB of memory. However, supply constraints for the 5060 Ti 16GB are already becoming evident, and industry rumors warn that overall RTX 50 series shipments could plummet by 30–40% heading into the first half of 2026.
