Square Enix Confirms: Final Fantasy VII Remake 3 is Almost Ready for Release

It appears that the concluding chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy may arrive sooner than anticipated, as suggested by recent comments from the development team.

While Square Enix continues to safeguard specific details, including the game’s official title, Director Naoki Hamaguchi shared a promising update during an interview with French content creator Julien Chièze:

“The fundamental gameplay experience is largely complete; we have now transitioned into the final stages of refinement and polishing.”

Although a definitive launch window hasn’t been set, these comments imply that the primary development milestones have been surpassed. It is worth noting, however, that finishing touches on visual assets, cinematic sequences, and voice-over work are still ongoing, making a public demonstration in the immediate future unlikely.

While some fans hold out hope for a 2026 release, the absence of an announcement at high-profile events like The Game Awards suggests a target closer to early 2027. Such a date would coincide perfectly with the 30th anniversary of the original 1997 classic, offering a momentous occasion to conclude this ambitious reimagining.
