Slay the Spire 2 Announces 4-Player Co-Op and March Early Access Launch Date

Slay The Spire 2 Early Access and Co-op Reveal

The original Slay the Spire stands as a genre-defining masterpiece, single-handedly igniting the global obsession with roguelike deckbuilders. Naturally, anticipation for its successor has been reaching a fever pitch. While developer Mega Crit previously hinted at a release window, a striking new trailer has officially confirmed that Slay the Spire 2 will arrive in Steam Early Access on March 5—a mere two weeks away.

Beyond the launch date, the most startling revelation is the addition of a feature completely absent from the first game: four-player cooperative play. This dedicated multiplayer mode introduces a fresh layer of strategy, allowing groups to explore the Spire together. According to a Steam community update, players can expect cards designed exclusively for multiplayer and powerful team-based synergies that transform the traditional tactical experience.

The trailer also provides a glimpse at the expanding roster of heroes. Two brand-new challengers, the Necrobinder and the Regent, will be available at the start of Early Access. They join returning fan favorites like the Ironclad and the Silent. Notably, the Defect has also been confirmed to return, leaving the Watcher as the only primary character from the original game currently missing from the lineup. However, as this is only the beginning of the Early Access journey, there is plenty of room for further expansions to the roster.

With its blend of familiar mechanics and bold new collaborative features, Slay the Spire 2 is easily one of the most significant releases of the year. Mark your calendars for March 5 to see how Mega Crit evolves the legendary formula once again.
