Silent Hill: Townfall Will Be a Horror Game Without Combat or Puzzles — Insider

Players barely had a chance to recover after the launch of Silent Hill f when new rumors about the series’ next entry began circulating online. Insider Malik claimed that, next to Townfall, Hinako Shimizu’s storyline now seems comparatively restrained.

All eyes are on Silent Hill: Townfall from Screen Burn (formerly No Code). According to circulating reports, the game is slated for a 2026 release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and will present a collection of short ghost stories. Its most notable departure is the removal of combat, weapons and the familiar inventory — a daring choice that immediately ignited discussion among series devotees.

Townfall is said to be an anthology of brief episodes set in a small coastal town that is not connected to Silent Hill, with the local beach area serving as a unifying motif. Rather than fighting, players will be forced to run from apparitions, probe their surroundings and sink into a cinematic psychological horror experience featuring jump scares and investigative elements. The format evokes P.T., while also drawing comparisons to the ill-fated The Short Message.

Many applaud Konami for taking a risk, but a segment of the fanbase views the concept as a betrayal of the series’ roots. Others, however, see it as a chance to revitalize the franchise — especially as a remake of the original game is reportedly in the works and the more traditional-feeling Silent Hill f continues to develop.
