This year’s festival was overshadowed by political tensions. Both the Berlinale administration and the jury faced backlash for alleged censorship and their perceived silence regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. An open letter condemning the festival’s leadership was signed by more than 80 prominent actors and cultural figures, including Javier Bardem, Tilda Swinton, and Mark Ruffalo.
