Major Lazer to Ignite 2026 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony in Verona

Major Lazer, the powerhouse electronic project led by Diplo, is officially slated to headline the 2026 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony in Verona, Italy. The high-profile booking was confirmed this Saturday, February 21, just twenty-four hours before the grand finale kicks off.
The trio is expected to deliver an explosive setlist featuring their greatest hits, including the 2015 global phenomenon “Lean On,” which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. According to official press releases, the performance will also feature several unannounced “surprise guests.” International audiences can catch the broadcast live on NBC or stream it via Peacock beginning at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 22.
The Olympic finale will be staged at the iconic Verona Olympic Arena, serving as a tribute to the athletes’ dedication and triumphs over the past weeks. Major Lazer joins a prestigious roster of confirmed performers that includes Italian sensation Achille Lauro, actress Benedetta Porcaroli, and legendary DJ Gabry Ponte.
Before the official announcement, Diplo shared a humorous update with his followers on Instagram. In a viral reel, the producer was seen cycling down a highway, jokingly panicking about potentially missing his flight to Italy. The clip concluded with him safely on board a plane, celebrating his successful transit.
This Olympic appearance comes on the heels of reports from Mexico City’s El Universal, which noted that Diplo had to withdraw from his scheduled set at EDC Mexico this weekend. Festival organizers reportedly cited logistical complications as the reason for his absence from the lineup.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from the collective; Major Lazer’s most recent full-length studio effort, Music Is the Weapon, was released in 2020.
