Ariana Grande Shows Off New Bob as Boyfriend Ricky Alvarez Falls in Love With Her Again

Ariana Grande has a new bob, which she showed for the first time in a Friday (Oct. 23) post on Instagram. Her boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez, commented on the photos.

The pop singer posted a series of selfies, holding the camera sideways and looking into the lens. Instead of her signature ponytail or the bun she has worn lately, her hair now ends a few inches above her shoulders, with the ends flipped upward.

Grande captioned the photos with a heart and tagged hairstylist Brandon Pietsch.

Friends complimented the Grammy winner in the comments. Gigi Hadid wrote, “rlly cute !!!!!!!!!” and Victorious costar Daniella Monet wrote, “Natural cutie.”

Alvarez, a photographer, commented, “i wanna ask you out.”

Grande and Alvarez first dated in 2015, after they met when he worked as her backup dancer. They split sometime in 2016 and rekindled their romance a decade later. Fans spotted them together throughout summer 2026, during the Wicked actress’ Eternal Sunshine Tour and the rollout of her Petal album.

At the final show of the tour, Grande changed a line in her 2018 song “Thank U, Next,” which spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In her version, she sang about writing songs about Ricky and trying to make him her last, a nod to her renewed relationship with Alvarez.

Petal came out on July 31 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It produced Grande’s 10th Hot 100 No. 1, “Hate That I Made You Love Me.”

After the music video for the album’s title track was released, a wave of comments about her body and appearance spread online. Shortly afterward, her representative said she would step back from the spotlight, citing “endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”

As part of the break, Grande dropped out of the West End revival of Sunday in the Park With George. Her would-be costar Jonathan Bailey has also since left the production. She has also scaled back public appearances. Billboard confirmed in September that she will take part in promotion for Focker-in-Law, which premieres Nov. 25.
